Getting out of your cell phone contract without paying termination fees

by fan of life on Mar.02, 2010, under Bargin Shopping

If you are stuck in a cell phone plan that you desperately want out of but are not willing to pay the early termination fees i have a few tips that may help you out.

One way to terminate your contract is if your service provider has recently increased the rates of services.  I know you say well all of the major providers are lowering their rates.  While this is true if services like data or text messaging rates are raised to offset the costs of a lower plan you can say that it has negatively affected your account.  If you are using these services on a pretty regular basis, which most of us do, then the extra money that you may have to pay can get you out of a contract.  Most times your current provider will most likely try and cut a deal just to keep you on the service, but you can always say no.  This technique is also good for getting service rates lowered, especially if you provide proof that you can get it cheaper.

Now how about if you have your eye on the latest cell phone and your carrier doesn’t provide service for it.  Well what you can do is have someone take over your contract.  Most service providers could care or less who is paying the monthly subscription payments to them, just as long as they are getting paid.  They will in most cases switch over your account to another person with very little hassle.  Try places like http://cellswapper.com to get someone to take over your contract.  Cellswapper is a service that allows you to list your contract information for people to view.  If someone is interested in taking over your contract they can contact you and if you two agree on the terms cellswapper will help you get it transferred.    There is a listing fee of $18.95 for power poster and $24.95 for a showcase poster, but hey compare that to at least $150, that is peanuts if you are looking to get out of a contract.  Head over now and take a look at what they have to offer.
